Pay your attention to the stuffing (nails, screws and nuts) and circuit closing contactor (looks like a blue stick with a button). At the moment of explosion nails and screws scatter in different directions at a great rate and injure others.

After shifting toggle on pot-belly the entire system is activated – and as soon as the suicide bomber presses the button of the contactor all around in radius of 30-50 meters passes into a bloody jelly.

A primitive bomb usually consists of several cylinders, often cut parts of metallic water pipes, filled with explosives and fragments , that are connected by a wire to a trigger, the “red button”, that is usually located in the suicide bomber’s pocket, or on his chest. The cylinders are hung or packed in an inner lining of a jacket, that is worn under the clothes. It is a very simple and effective device.

A more sophisticated kind is made out of plastified explosive, and consists of “plates” of explosive, that are packed into a jacket or into a lining of a coat.
The “fragmentation jacket” consists of steel balls, screws, nuts and pieces of thick wire.

The main killing power of any bomb is not the explosion itself (the shock wave is rather small because of small quantity of explosives used) but the fragments of its jacket, which are launched in all directions by the explosion. In air force bombs and in many types of artillery shells the pieces are formed out of the steel casing, which is split into small pieces in an explosion.

In anti-personnel tank shells and in some kinds of artillery shells part of the internal payload is dedicated to shrapnel- such a shell is filled with several thousand of needles (“flechettes”). Sometimes these flechettes are made of plastic, which do not show up on x-rays. Palestinian terrorists realized this principle long ago and use it widely. More than 90% of the victims injured are hit by the bomb shrapnel.

In an explosion, the balls are launched with such speed, that their power is close to a bullet’s. You could say that in an explosion the suicide-bomber shoots several hundred bullets in a single moment.

Aside from steel balls, nails, screws and so on, nuts and washers are also used. Nuts are easily glued together to form tiny plates that can be pressed in, or even tied by a tape to the plates of the explosive to hide it better. Likewise, nuts are also stringed on a thread or on a piece of wire, as shown on the photographs.

The Cuban photographer Alberto Corda took some photos of an argentine doctor and Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara in March of 1960.

This photo was assumed as a basis of the romantic revolutionist’s iconic image.

The nose image on the left and the palms one on the right didn’t go down in history.

Che Guevara couldn’t keep still on Cuba and was eager to do something, for instance revolution. He couldn’t also do anything in Congo, as this country was inhabited by sluggish people (How fascinating are Che’s Congolese diaries!) After all, Che Guevara moved to Bolivia and also failed to stir up Vallengrad peasantry to revolt. The Bolivian army soldiers (and of course, where to go without CIA) shot Che Guevara on 9th of October 1967. They didn’t shoot him in the face, so that it could be seen that the killed person was Che Guevara.

Everyone wanted to be photographed with a well-known dead body.

Che Guevara’s hands were cut off and sent to Cuba, so that the Argentine police could compare them with the file samples. The body was buried next to the landing strip in a common grave.

The Bolivians first cut off the hands, and after that decided to do the same thing with Che’s fingers.

Only in 1997 the Cuban delegation reported that the body was found. They transported the remains to Cuba, and then buried them in a Santa-Clara town mausoleum.

In the same year old man who took part in burying Che Guevara in Bolivia decided to put some documents, photos and the lock of Che’s hair up for auction. This lot was sold for 119 000 dollars. Willoldo insists that only he knows where Che Guevara is buried, and there are another person’s remains on Cuba.

Three days ago, on 19th of January, the stamp with the name “50 years of Cuban Revolution victory” (joint Russia and Cuba edition) was issued. And the star, unlike on the old Cuban stamp, was displayed, of course. It’s worthy to mention that the US can’t venture on such a stamp issue.

But now USA uses this type of Che image!

The Army has a Special Forces Corps unified command and its formed of 3 Special Forces Brigades, a High Command GAFE group, a GAFE group assigned to the Airborne Brigade and several Amphibious Special Forces Groups.

The Special Forces Brigades are formed by 9 SF battalions. The First brigade has the 1°, 2° y 3° SF battalions, The Second brigade has the 5°,6°,7° y 8°, and the Third brigade has the 4° y 9° and a Rapid Intervention Force group.
The High Command GAFE is a group with no more than 100 members, they are specially trained in counter-terrorist tactics. They receive orders directly from the Secretary of National Defense.
The Navy has a special operations force called Fuerzas Especiales, better known as FES. Their specialty are unconventional warfare, assault, counter-terrorism, and special reconnaissance operations.
There is also another special forces unit called Batallones de Comandos Anfibios. These units carry out special tasks for the Amphibious Reaction Forces (Marines).

Meanwhile, reconstruction is underway. By June 2006, out of more than 60,000 apartment buildings and private homes destroyed, 900 have been rebuilt. Out of several dozens of industrial enterprises, three have been partially rebuilt – the Grozny Machine-Building Factory, the Krasny Molot (Red Hammer) and Transmash factories. The railway communication was restored in 2005, and Grozny’s Severny airport was reopened in 2007 with three weekly flights to Moscow. Most of the city’s infrastructure was destroyed and many continue to live in ruined buildings without heating and running water.

Operations
Several of the operations were along the coast in the borders between sea and land, and together with roads and populated areas. Surveillance, patrols, road control posts, vehicle inspection, control of air space, minesweeping, evacution of civilians and riot control were important part of the exercise. Being a winter exercise, it puts an extra challenge in doing all this under harsh weather conditions.

Participants
Among the participants were; the Norwegian Telemark Battalion, a thousand soldiers from the Norwegian National Guard, the Norwegian Airforce’s 339 Squadron and 720 Squadron, most of the Norwegian Navy’s available forces. 3,000 soldiers from the British 3 Commando Brigade, which gained their annual winter training by taking part in the exercise, 800 French mountain special forces, and 2000 Swedish soldiers. Smaller units from the Netherlands, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, USA, Finland, Spain, Denmark and Canada.

Scenario
After an earthquake in the fictional country of Asando, an armed conflict by extremists and separation-groups against government forces erupts. The security council approves a resolution to allow NATO to take control of the situation. A peacekeeping force was assigned to help settle the conflict.
