In all seriousness cats require baths occasionally. Our female cat has long hair and sometimes gets poop balls stuck in her fur. Our male cat is 22 lbs. and will sometimes scoot his bunghole across the carpet rather than bending all the way around to clean himself. Bathing our girl cat involves a lot of screaming, but no injuries. The boy cat must be held by the neck during bathing or he will sink his teeth into your hand. If they were not given baths, we would have poop smears across our floors and carpets.

Mental note…. Hippies don’t like when you talk about washing your cat. It makes you a kitten and puppy killing, baby eating monster and your going to hell cause that cat got wet. An occasional flee bath or the cat managed to get covered in dirt or smells like poop bath doesn’t hurt it at all. My cat even plays with water all the time.

There’s nothing wrong with washing your cat in a sink or tub. Its understandable that cats may be scared of water but most cats are scared of water bc they’re not used to it. It’s true that you have to get them used to taking baths. I have a kitten that I have been bathing everyday (which may sound bad) but she doesn’t clean herself properly. After using the bathroom there will be poop stuck in her hair toward her backside area & sometimes stuck in her leg hair. Also, there will be cat litter stuck in her paws. So instead of having a poopy cat I wash her, & I don’t see anything wrong with that. She is actually very calm when I put her in the water. On top of the poop, I am allergic but I haven’t had problems since washing her & keeping her clean. SO maybe I’m one of the people that’s allergic to their saliva.

I do have to wash my fluffy orange tabby, Buddy, occasionally; about once a month.
Most of the time he’ll make such panicky noises I expect the neighbours to come knocking, but after the soapy soak (which I can’t do for long on account of said neighbours), he calms right down and enjoys his towelling and blow dry.
Then I give him some treats and tell him what a good boy he is! He’s 14, gorgeous and extremely bonded to me ~ doesn’t really like anybody else.
Bath time is never fun but it has to be done.

My other cat Ashley is better with baths but doesn’t need them that often.

You people that think cats clean themselves should not be allowed to own them. When a cat licks itself, it deposits an enzyme that WILL SMELL and can be dangerous to humans, although not very often. Yes, cats lick themselves to clean themselves but they STILL need bathing at least ewvery 2 weeks!

Thats pretty wierd!
Anyway, I AM for having a dedicated “foot cat” so to speak. Heres how I would do it: I would reward the cat with little treats and kisses when it does something like licking my feet, and i would punish him severely when he doesnt! In a few weeks, VOILA! a dedicated manservant foot cat. Pretty nifty idea.
Today, I shit myself and that was pretty crazy.
